Belly Birth & Beyond
Caesarean birth deserves preparation, too. This package combines caesarean birth education, birth mapping, and postpartum support so you and your partner can understand what to expect, explore your options, prepare for recovery, and move through this experience feeling informed, supported, and cared for by someone who knows you.
Inclusions:
2 Prenatal Sessions
Session 1 - Caesarean Birth Education & Birth Map
This session combines caesarean birth education with the creation of your Birth Map. We talk through the caesarean process before, during, and immediately after birth, so you and your partner understand what to expect and can prepare for a calm and positive experience.
As we go, we map your preferences because, contrary to popular belief, caesarean birth is not a fixed experience. There are many options and preferences that may shape how supported you feel and how your baby enters the world. This may include communication, theatre atmosphere, draping, skin-to-skin, delayed cord clamping, partner involvement, newborn procedures, photography, and feeding after birth.
We also make space for the emotional side of caesarean birth, because not every woman arrives at a planned caesarean in the same way. Some women feel clear and confident, while others may experience disappointment, fear, grief, or conflicting emotions. There is space for all of that here.
Session 2 - Postpartum Planning
Caesarean birth asks your body to do two big things at once: recover from surgery and begin life with your baby. In this session, we draw on both traditional and modern postpartum practices to understand the kind of care a newborn mother actually needs.
Together, we explore ways to support oxytocin in the first few days, plan nourishing meals and snacks, set up a meal train or support roster, cope with sleep deprivation, protect recovery, work with your partner, build your village, access local resources, and understand the realities of life with a newborn. If useful, we can also use part of this session to cook or prepare postpartum food together.
Appointment Attendance
Attendance at one key maternity care appointment is available if you would like support in that space. This can be helpful when discussing your Birth Map, asking questions, or navigating important decisions with your care provider.
Birth Support
Support during a planned caesarean birth will depend on your hospital and the number of support people permitted in theatre and recovery. In many hospital settings, only one support person is allowed, usually your partner. Where a second support person is permitted, I can be there with you.
This package does not include on-call birth attendance. However, if you would like the reassurance of having me available in case labour begins before your booked caesarean date, on-call birth support can be added to your package.
When I am not able to be with you in theatre or recovery, I can still visit once you are settled back on the maternity ward, where hospital guidelines allow. This is completely optional. Some families want to stay in their own little bubble after birth, and that is absolutely okay.
3 Postpartum Sessions
After your baby is born, this package includes 3 postpartum visits, each lasting 2 hours. These visits are intended for use within the first 6 weeks after birth.
Each visit begins with a warm postpartum drink and a mother-centred check-in to see what is happening for you that day. We will talk about how you are feeling, your recovery, and what kind of care would feel most helpful.
My visits include a nourishing homemade meal and a snack for your family, along with a warm postpartum drink. They may also include gentle bodywork such as a foot soak, shoulder rub, neck massage, or warm compress; feeding and newborn care support; help with understanding your baby’s cues; and light practical help around the home, such as dishes, laundry, tidying, or resetting your space.
Nourishing Meals & Snacks
The food I prepare is made with locally sourced, organic ingredients wherever possible, including grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, seasonal produce, and whole foods chosen to support postpartum recovery. All meals are tailored to your family’s dietary requirements, and I do my best to align flavours with your preferences.
Birth Tools and Resources
You will also have access to my growing library of books and virtual resources as you prepare for birth.
Anetnatal Expressing
I can help you understand antenatal expressing and how to prepare to safely express and store colostrum before your baby is born.
Referral Support
I can connect you with trusted local supports, including women’s health physiotherapy, osteopathy, lactation support, naturopathy, massage therapy, perinatal psychology, postpartum meal services, and other practitioners who may support your wellbeing and recovery.
Ongoing Phone & Text Support
Between sessions, you can reach out with questions, reflections, decisions, or anything you want to talk through as it comes up.
Note about when to book
This package can be booked at any stage once you know you are planning a caesarean birth. Some women know this early in pregnancy, while others only find out much later that caesarean birth is the most appropriate pathway for them and their baby. If your caesarean is already booked or being discussed, you are welcome to reach out, and we can shape the support around the time available.
