Birth education gives you information. Birth mapping helps you work out what that information means for you, in your body, your life, your care setting, and your actual birth. It gives you time to explore the different pathways birth may take, the decisions that may come up, and the circumstances that might change what feels like the best option. So if birth unfolds differently from what you hoped, you are not starting from scratch in the moment. You have already thought about the pathway and considered what your next best decision might be.

These sessions are for women and families who want more than a template birth plan. They are for people who want time to properly explore their options and understand the realities of the maternity system. I allow two hours for each session, so we have enough space for meaningful discussion, questions, and reflection.

Inclusions:

2 Planning Sessions

Session 1

We begin by understanding your context: your model of care, your provider, your place of birth, and what maternity care in Australia can look like in real time. We then explore the key pathways of labour and birth, including physiological, medicalised, and caesarean birth, so you can begin to understand where decisions may arise and what questions you may need answered. This session helps you start building your Birth Map, not as a rigid plan, but as a way of making sense of your options before decisions are being made in the moment.

Session 2

In our second session, we turn your Birth Map into something practical and usable. We clarify your preferences, your non-negotiables, the kind of support you want, and how you may wish to respond if your birth pathway changes. We also look at practical communication with your care team, including how to ask questions, seek clarification, and make decisions with more confidence. By the end, you will have a clearer Birth Map, a stronger understanding of your options, and language you can use with your care providers.
